黃棕色或磚紅色粉末，微溶于水，易溶于堿，溶于熱濃酸中。700-1125℃時分解失氧。1g溶于約125ml水，溶于堿生成釩酸鹽。其酸性溶液能被二氧化硫或鋅加鹽酸所還原。不溶于乙醇。劇毒，半數(shù)致死量（大鼠，經(jīng)口）10mg/kg。有刺激性。?催化劑，植物接種，阻止紫外線透過玻璃、顯影劑、制造黃色玻璃和苯胺黑。二氧化硫氧化為三氧化硫和乙醇氧化為乙醛時的催化劑。Selective ammoxidation catalysts for such reactions as conversion of toluene to benzonitrile or propylene to acrylonitrile were prepared by a sol-gel method from V2O5, Sb2O3 and high purity hydrogen peroxide. Preparation of new stabilized, oxide ion-conducting, bismuth vanadate phases by a microwave assisted method, fromV2O5, Bi2O3 and other solid oxides, was reported. These ceramics show promise in solid oxide fuel cells, water-vapor electrolyzers and oxygen sensors.
